Goals and Objectives
The goal of this telecollaborative project is for students to develop a global understanding of diversity in their community and beyond. It is important to teach understanding and tolerance of other cultures to children when they are young. This will lead to a break down of cultural barriers across the globe. Students will construct personal narratives describing their family’s cultural traditions. These narratives will be posted to class blogs and shared with students from another school, encouraging students to look beyond their school’s walls for diverse perspectives. Students will collaborate with other students to ask and answer questions related to customs and traditions. This telecollaborative project aligns with the reading, writing, social studies, and technology standards for students in third, fourth, and fifth grade.
